At P5 and P6, Confidence Is a Technique

There is a particular kind of anxiety that sets in at this level. A student can know the content, have done the practice, and still freeze in front of a composition prompt or an oral question. Not because they are unprepared, but because English at this stage demands precision, and precision without confidence collapses under pressure.

Every section of the P5 and P6 English paper has its own logic, its own expectations, and its own ways of costing students marks they should be keeping. The students who perform well are not always the most naturally gifted. They are the ones who know exactly what each section is asking, and who have practised enough to trust their own responses.

This programme is built around that kind of confidence. Not the kind that comes from reassurance, but the kind that comes from knowing what to do and having done it enough times to do it well.

What the Programme Covers

Fifteen carefully sequenced lessons across three distinct phases of English mastery:

Lessons 1 to 5: Grammar, Synthesis and Transformation, Cloze and Comprehension Open-Ended

Students work through more than 30 grammar question types and the full range of S&T structures including Word Transformation, Reported Speech, and Passive Voice. Cloze and Comprehension Open-Ended techniques are developed with a focus on precision and answering discipline.

Lessons 6 to 10: Composition and Situational Writing

Students explore more than 20 composition topics across 3 new storyline frameworks, developing the ability to plan, write, and refine under timed conditions. Both informal and formal situational writing are practised, with attention to tone, format, and the specific expectations schools are applying at this level.

Lessons 11 to 15: Reading and Oral Communication

Students build reading fluency and practise structured oral responses across multiple sessions, developing the confidence to express ideas clearly, elaborate naturally, and perform consistently under exam conditions.

By the End of the Programme, Students Will:

✔ Handle grammar and S&T questions with greater accuracy and speed across more than 30 question types

✔ Apply precise answering techniques to Cloze and Comprehension Open-Ended questions

✔ Write compositions and situational pieces that are structured, purposeful, and appropriate to the task

✔ Approach oral communication with the confidence to elaborate naturally and respond with clarity

✔ Know exactly what each section of the English paper is asking and how to respond to it effectively

✔ Close the specific gaps identified from this year’s school papers, before they carry forward

To ensure the quality of lessons, there will be an assisting teacher when there is a need to. Attention will be paid to all students. For Oral practice sessions, all students - whether online or in-person - will go through at least 1 practice round per lesson.
