At P5 and P6, the Right Method Makes All the Difference
There is a particular kind of frustration that surfaces at this level. A student can recognise the concepts in a problem sum, understand what is being asked, and still be unable to move forward because they do not have the right heuristic for that specific situation.
Maths at P5 and P6 is no longer about applying a familiar method to a familiar problem. The questions are designed to combine concepts, shift variables, and present scenarios that look slightly different from anything the student has practised. The students who perform well are not always the fastest or the most naturally gifted. They are the ones with a toolkit broad enough to handle what they have not seen before, and the judgment to reach for the right tool at the right moment.
This programme is built around developing exactly that. Not by drilling templates, but by teaching students to understand why each method works, so they can adapt it when the question demands something more.
What the Programme Covers
Eight carefully sequenced lessons across the full P5 and P6 Mathematics syllabus:
Lesson 1 — Equating Numerators and Excess and Shortage
Students learn to handle problems involving ratios and quantities that are unequal, developing the ability to identify the right entry point into a problem and work through it systematically rather than by instinct.
Lesson 2 — Assumption and Number x Value
Students apply the Assumption heuristic to more complex P5 problem structures and develop fluency with the Number x Value framework, learning to set up and solve problems that involve multiple items with different values.
Lesson 3 — Fraction of Fraction and Simultaneous and Substitution
Students work through problems that combine fractional relationships with simultaneous unknowns, building the conceptual clarity needed to handle multi-step problems that require more than one method to resolve.
Lesson 4 — Area and Perimeter
Students sharpen their understanding of area and perimeter across composite figures and complex shapes, developing the precision and spatial reasoning needed to handle the more demanding geometry questions at P5 level.
Lesson 5 — Substitution in Fraction of Fraction and Sets
Students deepen their understanding of fraction-based problems at P6 level, where substitution adds a layer of complexity, and develop fluency with Set problems using our Shorter-Better-Faster methods to navigate multi-condition questions efficiently.
Lesson 6 — Before Change After and the Two-Table Method
Students master the Before Change After framework and its two-table variation, two of the most versatile and high-frequency heuristics at P6 level, learning to apply them across a wide range of problem types involving changing quantities and relationships.
Lesson 7 — Circles
Students develop a clear and confident understanding of circle properties and calculations, with particular attention to the composite figure problems that combine circles with other shapes and consistently challenge students under timed conditions.
Lesson 8 — Data, Geometry and Repeated Entity
Students consolidate their understanding of data interpretation, geometric reasoning, and the Repeated Entity heuristic, building the ability to handle the varied and often unfamiliar problem types that appear in the final sections of P6 assessments.
All students receive: Exclusive TTA Smart Study Notes covering key heuristics and worked examples.
By the End of the Programme, Students Will:
✔ Understand the key concepts and heuristics across the full P5 and P6 syllabus, not as isolated tricks but as a connected toolkit
✔ Know how to approach unfamiliar problem sums systematically using our Shorter-Better-Faster methods
✔ Identify the right heuristic for the right problem, across both P5 and P6 question types
✔ Show clear, structured working that reflects genuine mathematical reasoning
✔ Stop losing marks to incomplete methods or careless application of the wrong approach
✔ Close the specific conceptual gaps identified from this year’s school papers, before they carry forward
Why Families Choose Us
Over the years, we have had the privilege of supporting more than 10,000 students in building stronger academic foundations and genuine learning confidence.
Our teaching approach has been recognised by local and international media, including The Straits Times, Channel NewsAsia, Lianhe Zaobao, Bloomberg, and South Korea’s Educational Broadcasting Network, which flew to Singapore specifically to document what we do in the classroom.
Select your preferred class below and give your child access to a programme that Singapore families have trusted for years and that international media have travelled here specifically to see.
Download our full June Holiday Programme Brochure for a complete overview of what's available across all subjects and levels here.
We look forward to helping your child build something that lasts.

Take Note:
*Lessons do not have to be attended in order. P5 students are welcomed to join the P6 classes if they would like to learn ahead. We do highly encourage P6 students to take this opportunity to revise P5 topics!
