At P5 and P6, Knowing the Answer Is Not Enough

There is a specific frustration that surfaces at this level. A student can understand a concept, recognise what is happening in a question, and still lose marks because their answer is incomplete, imprecise, or missing the keyword that the mark scheme requires.

Science at P5 and P6 is no longer about recalling facts. It is about constructing explanations. The OEQs at this stage demand that students not only understand what is happening, but can articulate why, using the right scientific reasoning in the right sequence.

This is the gap our programme is built to close. Not by drilling model answers, but by teaching students how scientific reasoning actually works, so they can construct their own answers confidently, even when the question is unfamiliar.

What the Programme Covers

Eight carefully sequenced lessons across the full P5 and P6 Science syllabus:

Lessons 1 to 4: P5 Topics

Photosynthesis and Respiration, Plant Transport System, Body System, Water Cycle, Electricity, Reproduction in Humans and Plants.

Students revisit and consolidate these topics with a focus on conceptual clarity and OEQ answering technique, learning to construct complete, precise responses that address what the question is actually asking.

Lessons 5 to 8: P6 Topics

Energy, Forces, Living Together and Web of Life, Adaptations, Man’s Impact on the Environment.

Students deepen their understanding of these topics and develop the ability to handle the more complex, application-based OEQs that appear at P6 level, where questions increasingly test reasoning across multiple concepts.

All students receive: Exclusive TTA Smart Study Notes covering key concepts and OEQ answering frameworks.

By the End of the Programme, Students Will:

✔ Understand the key concepts across the full P5 and P6 Science syllabus, not as isolated facts but as connected ideas

✔ Construct clear, complete OEQ answers using structured scientific reasoning

✔ Know exactly what each question is asking and how to respond with the precision schools are rewarding

✔ Handle application-based questions with confidence, even when the scenario is unfamiliar

✔ Stop losing marks to incomplete or imprecise answers

✔ Close the specific conceptual gaps identified from this year’s school papers, before they carry forward
