This Is When a Child Decides How They Feel About English

Primary 3 and 4 are not the years before things get serious. They are the years that determine how serious things need to get later. This is when reading shifts from decoding to interpreting. When writing demands structure, voice, and a point. When a child quietly decides whether English is something they are good at or something they endure.

We built this programme around that moment so that when P5 and P6 arrive, they arrive for a child who already feels at home in the language.

What the Programme Covers

Five carefully sequenced lessons, each targeting a distinct area of English mastery:

Lesson 1 - Grammar & Vocabulary

Students explore approximately 20 grammar question types with an emphasis on understanding the rules behind the answers so they can apply them independently, not just recognise them in a worksheet.

Lesson 2 — Synthesis & Transformation and Comprehension

Students work through approximately 20 Synthesis & Transformation structures and develop techniques for reading comprehension and learning to identify what questions are actually asking and how to respond with clarity and accuracy.

Lesson 3 — Composition Writing

Students explore more than 5 composition topics with guided story frameworks and learning to plan, develop, and write stories that are structured and engaging. The focus is on helping students find their own storytelling voice, not on producing formulaic responses.

Lessons 4 & 5 — Reading and Oral Communication

Students build reading fluency and practise spoken communication through structured oral sessions and developing the confidence to express ideas clearly and naturally, not just correctly.

By the end of the programme, students will:

✔ Feel more confident expressing themselves in writing and in speech

✔ Have a stronger grasp of grammar and vocabulary, not through rote drilling, but through understanding how language works

✔ Approach composition writing with structure, creativity, and their own voice

✔ Read with greater comprehension and be able to identify what a question is really asking

✔ Close the specific language gaps identified from this year’s school papers

*Hybrid Classes are a mix of students attending the same lesson online or in-person at our Upper Thomson Road / Bukit Timah Plaza centre. To ensure the quality of lessons, there will be an assisting teacher when there is a need to. Attention will be paid to all students. For Oral practice sessions, all students - whether online or in-person - will go through at least 1 practice round per lesson.
