Primary 5 & 6 (2026 Cohort): PSLE Mathematics Mastery Headstart
Our December Holiday Programme is designed to give Primary 5 and 6 students a powerful head start for the new academic year. Across four carefully curated lessons, students will revisit key PSLE topics, learn advanced problem-solving frameworks, and sharpen their ability to reason systematically under time pressure. Each session targets one major PSLE concept, ensuring mastery through technique-driven learning and guided practice.
Lesson 1: BCA Technique (Before-Change-After)
This lesson introduces the signature Before-Change-After (BCA) method — a structured alternative to model drawing that is indispensable for ratio, percentage, and fraction comparison questions. Students learn how to translate real-world scenarios into clear mathematical statements and handle multi-step changes efficiently, perfect for solving high-order problem sums that appear in PSLE Paper 2.
Lesson 2 – Number × Value and Assumption
Students discover how to use the Number × Value (NxV) table and the Assumption Strategy to solve questions involving changing totals, guess-and-check reasoning, and variable relationships. This technique emphasises logical consistency and time-saving shortcuts that help students verify their workings quickly. By the end of the session, learners will view complex word problems as structured relationships rather than confusing narratives.
Lesson 3 – Gaps & Subjects, Patterns
The third lesson strengthens pattern recognition and algebraic reasoning. Through Box-and-Arrow and Gap-Subject visualisation techniques, students analyse numerical progressions, spot constant and alternating differences, and learn how to predict missing terms confidently. The lesson bridges concrete examples and abstract generalisation — a critical thinking skill for upper-primary success.
Lesson 4 – Area and Perimeter
The final lesson focuses on geometry and visualisation. Students learn to tackle composite-shape questions and unknown-length problems using Think Teach’s Rearrange-and-Form technique. By linking geometry with algebraic thinking, they gain confidence in approaching real-world applications involving measurements, logical constraints, and problem modelling.
