Primary 3 & 4 (2026 Cohort): Junior English Headstart Programme

The December Holiday Headstart Programme provides Primary 3 /4 (2026) students with an early advantage for the coming academic year. Across four high-impact lessons, students strengthen their grasp of language fundamentals, sharpen writing technique, and build oral confidence. The programme focuses on equipping learners with both the skills and mindset to approach every English Paper component with clarity and precision.

Lesson 1 – Paper 2 (Grammar, Synthesis & Transformation, Comprehension Skills)

Students begin the programme by consolidating core Paper 2 components. Lessons focus on mastering intermediate grammar rules, identifying various S&T questions, and developing reading comprehension techniques. Using short, exam-style passages and question analysis, students learn how to identify key information, interpret intent, and select accurate answers — skills that form the backbone of English proficiency.

Lesson 2 – Composition Writing (Narrative Techniques)

The second lesson introduces students to structured story writing through Think Teach’s One Storyline Approach. Learners practise crafting engaging introductions, coherent plot flow, and meaningful conclusions. The focus is on building paragraph structure, using vivid vocabulary, and ensuring logical sequencing — empowering students to write compositions that are both creative and technically sound.

Lesson 3 – Oral Communication

Students refine their oral skills through targeted practice in both Reading Aloud and Stimulus-Based Conversation. Lessons emphasise clarity, pronunciation, and expression, while introducing conversational frameworks that help students organise their thoughts logically. The aim is to nurture confidence, fluency, and the ability to express ideas naturally during assessments and daily communication.

Lesson 4 – Paper 2 (Grammar, Editing, Synthesis & Transformation, Vocabulary & Comprehension Open Ended)

The final session brings students back to Paper 2, with an emphasis on accuracy and application. Learners review key grammar rules, practise editing techniques to correct sentence-level errors, and tackle Synthesis & Transformation question types using Think Teach’s proven step-by-step methods. Alongside vocabulary-building exercises that strengthen word choice and comprehension exercises that increase contextual awareness, this lesson reinforces and extends the language and writing skills introduced earlier in the programme. By integrating grammar precision with expressive versatility, students leave with the confidence to approach every Paper 2 component with clarity and control.
