Primary 4 (2026 Cohort): P5 Science Headstart Programme
This December Holiday Headstart Programme prepares Primary 4 students for the key upper-primary Science topics they will encounter in the year ahead. Conducted in a high-impact, crash-course format, each lesson focuses on building strong conceptual understanding, connecting ideas across systems, and developing the reasoning skills needed for future open-ended questions. Students walk away with clarity, confidence, and readiness for deeper scientific learning in 2026.
Lesson 1 – Plant Transport & Body Systems
Students explore how materials move within living organisms through the topics of Plant Transport and Body Systems. They learn how water and nutrients travel through plants and how organs in the human body work together to perform vital functions. The session reinforces system-based thinking and helps students visualise interconnections between structures and processes — key foundations for later topics like Circulatory and Respiratory Systems.
Lesson 2 – Reproduction in Plants and Humans
This lesson introduces Reproduction, one of the most conceptually rich topics at the upper-primary level. Students learn how flowering plants reproduce through pollination and fertilisation, and how the human reproductive system ensures the continuation of life. The focus is on understanding key processes, recognising similarities and differences between plants and humans, and learning how to express scientific ideas precisely using cause-and-effect language.
Lesson 3 – Water Cycle
Students examine the Water Cycle as a complete system of movement and change of state. Through step-by-step analysis, they learn how evaporation, condensation, and precipitation interact to maintain balance in Earth’s systems. Emphasis is placed on applying these ideas to interpret diagrams, identify energy changes, and construct logical explanations that align with PSLE-style questions.
Lesson 4 – Electricity
The final lesson introduces Electricity, a foundational physics topic that develops analytical thinking and careful reasoning. Students learn about open and closed circuits, conductors and insulators, and how simple circuit diagrams are interpreted. The crash-course approach strengthens conceptual precision and prepares students for the application-heavy questions they will face in upper-primary Science.
