P5 Science March Holiday Programme

$450.00

This March Holiday Programme provides Primary 5 students with focused consolidation of key MOE syllabus themes under Systems, Cycles, and Energy. Structured as a 5-lesson series, the programme strengthens conceptual understanding, reinforces scientific explanation skills, and builds confidence in tackling open-ended questions commonly tested in school assessments. Each lesson integrates clear syllabus-based content with structured answering techniques to prepare students strongly for Term 2.

Lesson 1 – Systems: Plant Transport System & Human Digestive System

Students begin with the Systems theme, focusing on the Plant Transport System (functions of roots, stem, and leaves; transport of water and manufactured food) and the Human Digestive System (organs involved and the process of digestion). Emphasis is placed on understanding functions, sequencing processes accurately, and explaining cause-and-effect relationships using precise scientific keywords.

Lesson 2 – Matter

This lesson consolidates concepts under the Cycles theme relating to states of matter and changes of state. Students learn to describe and explain melting, freezing, evaporation, and condensation based on particle arrangement and heat gain or loss. Focus is placed on clear explanations and application to everyday examples.

Lesson 3 – Light

Under the Energy theme, students explore properties and behaviour of Light, including reflection, refraction, and formation of shadows. The lesson trains students to interpret diagrams accurately, analyse simple experimental setups, and apply concepts to explain observations clearly.

Lesson 4 – Heat Energy I

Students learn about Heat Energy, focusing on heat gain and heat loss, as well as methods of heat transfer through conduction and convection. Emphasis is placed on understanding differences between heat and temperature, comparing materials based on thermal properties, and applying concepts to real-life scenarios.

Lesson 5 – Heat Energy II & Water Cycle

The programme concludes by linking Heat Energy to the Water Cycle. Students examine evaporation and condensation, and understand how heat from the Sun drives changes of state in the natural environment. Focus is placed on sequencing stages accurately and constructing complete, scientifically sound explanations.
