Primary 5 (2026 Cohort): PSLE Science Headstart Programme
The December Holiday Headstart Programme equips students with a strong foundation for the upper-primary Science syllabus. This course introduces core P6 topics ahead of school to give students an early advantage, ensuring they begin 2026 confident, curious, and ready to excel. Lessons combine content mastery with Think Teach’s proven techniques for answering open-ended questions, experiment-based reasoning, and concept linking.
Lesson 1 – Energy
The programme begins with Energy, one of the most important bridging topics for upper-primary Science. Students learn about the major forms of energy, how energy is converted or transferred, and how it underpins other topics such as Forces, Light, and Electricity. This session reinforces accurate scientific reasoning and clear articulation of energy relationships — essential for answering higher-order PSLE questions.
Lesson 2 – Forces
The second lesson explores Forces, focusing on how pushes and pulls influence motion, shape, and stability. Students revisit the distinction between contact and non-contact forces, understand the effects of gravity, friction, and magnetism, and learn to apply these ideas systematically to problem-solving. Emphasis is placed on identifying cause-and-effect relationships and constructing concise, concept-based answers under exam conditions.
Lesson 3 – Web of Life and Adaptations (Part 1)
Students examine the relationships between organisms in the Web of Life, learning how energy flows through food chains and food webs. The lesson also introduces Adaptations, covering how living things develop characteristics that help them survive in their environments. Through a guided crash-course format, students consolidate key definitions, causal links, and answering techniques for explanation-type questions.
Lesson 4 – Adaptations (Part 2) & Man’s Impact on the Environment
The final lesson continues with Adaptations, exploring structural and behavioural traits that support survival in different habitats, before extending into Man’s Impact on the Environment. Students analyse how human activity affects ecological balance and learn how to apply these ideas to scenario-based questions. The focus is on integrating knowledge across topics and presenting logical, well-structured answers that meet PSLE marking expectations.
