Primary 5 & 6 (2026 Cohort): PSLE English Headstart Programme

This December Holiday Headstart Programme gives upper-primary students a comprehensive boost across all major PSLE English components. Designed as a high-impact, crash-course series, the four lessons focus on developing confident oral communication, effective writing techniques, and precise comprehension skills. Each session blends structured skill-building with examination-focused strategies to give students a strong head start for the new academic year.

Lesson 1 – Oral Communication

Students begin by mastering the Oral component through intensive practice in both Reading Aloud and Stimulus-Based Conversation. The session focuses on tone, pacing, and expression to build fluency, while teaching students how to organise and extend their spoken responses confidently. Learners will acquire Think Teach’s proven conversation frameworks that help them handle any stimulus with structure and ease — a crucial skill for PSLE success.

Lesson 2 – Oral & Situational Writing

This lesson continues refining Oral techniques while introducing Situational Writing, a key scoring section of Paper 1. Students learn to interpret prompts accurately, identify audience and purpose, and structure responses with the right tone and format. Through guided examples, they develop the ability to write concisely, maintain coherence, and fulfil task requirements — the hallmark of high-performing writers.

Lesson 3 – Composition Writing

In this session, students take a deep dive into Continuous Writing (Composition). Using Think Teach’s One Storyline Approach, they learn how to plan strong narratives, build emotional depth, and link their plots cohesively to the given theme or picture set. Lessons focus on characterisation, paragraph flow, and high-impact vocabulary that elevates their writing from descriptive to purposeful storytelling.

Lesson 4 – Paper 2 (Grammar, S&T, Comprehension Open-Ended)

The final lesson focuses on Paper 2 components, consolidating essential language rules and comprehension techniques. Students review advanced Grammar MCQ concepts, refine Synthesis & Transformation strategies, and practise Comprehension Open-Ended analysis using PSLE-style passages. The session reinforces linguistic precision and critical reading — enabling students to decode questions accurately and express their answers with clarity and confidence.
